Stephanos graduated from the University of Bristol with a MEng in Civil Engineering with honours and joined the company as Executive Director and became a member of the Karantokis Group board in 2007. Being at the heart of innovation, he has driven the modernisation of the business, strengthening the competitiveness in the digital era.
Following the aftermath of the 2013 financial crisis and rapid shifts within the regulatory framework of Cyprus construction sector, Stephanos remained a leading voice in organisational transformation. Over the years, he has continued to champion digitalisation, sustainability, and governance reform, enhancing compliance structures, introducing modern operational systems, and expanding the Group’s activities in waste‑management operations and green housing developments.
As Managing Director of Medcon Construction, Stephanos oversees the strategic and operational direction of the company, with a primary focus on major infrastructure works, buildings, environmental projects, and the implementation of EU‑aligned sustainability practices. His leadership has positioned the company as a key contributor to Cyprus’s modern construction and environmental-services landscape.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Stephanos plays a significant role in shaping the national construction sector. Since 2018, he has served as Secretary General of both the Cyprus Contractors’ Association (ΣΕΟΚ) and the Cyprus Federation of Contractors’ Associations (ΟΣΕΟΚ). In these capacities, he leads policy dialogue, represents the sector before governmental and institutional bodies, and supports reforms aimed at improving industry standards, labour relations, and regulatory alignment.
At European level, Stephanos represents the Cyprus Constructon Industry within the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC), where he serves as Chair of the TEC‑3 Sub‑Commission on Environmental Affairs. In this role, he contributes to EU-wide discussions on environmental policy, circular construction, climate transition, and sustainable development. His involvement ensures the sector remains aligned with European strategies while actively participating in shaping future environmental directives and best practices across the continent.
Through his combined executive, national, and European roles, Stephanos continues to influence the development of a modern, sustainable, and forward‑looking construction ecosystem in Cyprus and beyond.
